Mrs. Wilbur is a 1994 graduate of South Iredell High School. After attending Mitchell Community College for two years, she transferred to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Mrs. Wilbur graduated from UNCC in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Social Studies Teaching certificate. She taught and coached at North Iredell High School for five years before she began her Master’s Degree in School Administration at Garder-Webb University. While completing her degree at GWU, Mrs. Wilbur was hired as an Assistant Principal at Statesville High School. During her time at Statesville High School, she was named the Iredell-Statesville Schools Assistant Principal of the Year. Mrs. Wilbur served as Assistant Principal at Lakeshore Middle school after leaving Statesville High School. In 2014, she took some time off to stay home with her youngest daughters. During her time at home, Mrs. Wilbur added the Adaptive Exceptional Children area to her license. Upon returning to work, she taught in a Low-Incidence Exceptional Children’s classroom at Brawley Middle School. Mrs. Wilbur was the Brawley Middle School Teacher of the Year for the 2016-17 school year. She worked as a Graduation Coach through the Federal GEAR UP Grant before returning to the role of Assistant Principal at West Iredell Middle School. Mrs. Wilbur worked as the Project Director for the TSL and GEAR UP Grant before becoming the Principal at Troutman Middle School.
Mrs. Wilbur lives in Troutman with her husband Sean and four children, Gavin, Ella, Harper, and Kelly. She loves spending time in the mountains and taking camping trips with her family when the family has a break from ball games and school activities.
Assistant Principal: Nikole Gaines

Nikole Gaines has been theTMS assistant principal since July 15, 2019. She was born and raised in Michigan. She continued her education at Central Michigan University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a major in English and a minor in Mathematics. Upon graduating she accepted a middle school mathematics position and coached girls’ basketball in Indiana. Over the next couple of years, she received her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University. After serving 8 years in the classroom, she became a Mathematics Facilitator at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School in Charlotte, NC. Ms. Gaines completed her Administration Leadership program at Gardner-Webb University and continued to lead a team of mathematics teachers through curriculum and instruction development. After moving to Mooresville, Ms. Gaines accepted a 6th grade math position at Troutman Middle School before leading staff and students in her role as assistant principal.
Ms. Gaines has two children, Ryan and Justin. She has a love for sports (Go Blue!), exercise, and helping others with nutrition.
